The Rainbow Fish - Book Club
Our first Top Shelf Book Club Kids event was a book club on The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister.
This classic children's book allowed for great discussion on the topic of sharing, friendship, and letting your skills shine to help others. Nostalgic for the parents and immersive for the kids, this book club was fun for all!
The craft involved each child getting a black and white image of the rainbow fish, choosing a specific color of shimmery scales, and then practice sharing their scales with the other children. The kids were then left with a very shimmery, colorful fish to take home, along with some practiced sharing and social skills.
The food was very fun, fishy-oriented foods - goldfish, a fish-shaped rainbow veggie board and fish-shaped rainbow fruit board, fish-shaped PB&J and cucumber sandwiches, and Rainbow Fish cupcakes (chocolate, pumpkin, or vanilla).
The kiddos took some pictures beneath the balloon arch, enjoyed looking through some books, and then played outside in the spacious outdoor area of Section House! Each child went home with a complimentary copy of The Rainbow Fish, some bubbles, and their craft!
